IGCSE and IBDP towards Academic Excellence
APG School is bound by its commitment to provide quality opportunities for learners to become excellent in academics and intellect. To do so APG has afforded its learners with a challenging international curricula and rigorous assessments through its International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma programmes.
The IGCSE board exam of 2014 basically demonstrated higher achievement in Biology, Chemistry, Math, Computer, Additional Math, and Arabic. Arabic exam results reflected a 100% passing rate. However, more than 75% of the students outstripped the minimum requirement in the rest of the subject areas.
Over the past five years, APG has graduated learners who have demonstrated excellence in these academics and intellect. Performances in the IB board examinations have improved significantly in the past three years, registering a 100 % pass rate in May 2014 session and above world average records in average score and average grades in almost all subjects registered for the session.
The majority of APG graduates are now taking their undergraduate degrees in various countries abroad, with some as recipient of prestigious scholarships, such as, the Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship Program by the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), and the highly coveted Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program.
Moreover, several APG students have been qualified for the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) scholarship program which brought together students from Asia, Middle East, and Russia to the US to live with the foster family and study in US school.
APG graduates are internationally minded and competent global citizens equipped with skills in research, communication, thinking, social, and self-management. They have developed and nurtured the key qualities of a learner as inquirer, knowledgeable, thinker, communicator, open-minded, caring, principled, risk-taker, balanced, and reflective.
Excellence is a result of habit, says Aristotle. APG School creates the environment where good habit develops and results in excellence, not only in academics but also in intellect and morals.
