Echoes, an annual inter-school speech contest organized by the English Department in the Middle School, was held last March 29, 2017, in Aradous Hall, with the aim of honing and showcasing the speaking abilities of the participating students in 2 categories: Prepared Speech for Grade 7 and Extemporaneous Speaking for Grade 8.
This year, 10 distinguished schools in Bahrain joined the competition namely: Indian School, Asian School, Al Mahd Day Boarding School, Al Rajaa School, Bangladesh School, Eastern School, Middle East School, Philippine School, Tylos Private School and Al Hekma International School.
For Extemporaneous Speaking, the following were adjudged as winners: 1st – Liya Ann Mathews (Indian School), 2nd- Bushra Fattah Hasan (Middle East School) and 3rd- John Joseph Jireh Burlat (Philippine School).
The following bagged the top 3 places for Prepared Speech contest: 1st- Rhoda Ann Roby (Asian School), 2nd- Maya Mohammed (Al Mahd Day Boarding School), and 3rd- Carlos Enrico B. Abainza (Philippine School).
The Indian School and The Asian School were hailed as Top Scoring Schools.
Ms. Ebtisam Al-Zeera, the Middle and High School Principal, warmly welcomed and thanked all the participating schools.
On this year, 2017 is the 10 years of Echoes and coincidentally, 10 schools joined the said event. Thus, the administration led by Ms. Ebtisam, Ms. Iqbal and Ms. Shahla; and the English Department headed by Dr. Roditha together with the Middle School teachers were truly glad for the over-all success of the event.
