Zig Ziglar once said, “A goal properly set is halfway reached.” The administration of APG believes that as early as now students knew already what they wanted to be in the future. Therefore, these students have set already a goal in their young minds and to help them to be fully equipped in attaining these, the IGCSE Parents and Students Orientation Day was conducted last March 17, 2016. It is one of the most awaited day of the school year because parents and students of incoming Grade 9 students are given the chance to clarify any vague information about the system.
The said orientation was spearheaded by the ardent and intelligent Department Coordinator Miss Yhen Caluyo. The said event was also attended by the competent school principal Miss Ebtisam Al Zeera.
Miss Yhen started her talk by giving an overview on what is IGCSE all about, its advantages and the benefits students can have by taking it. Moreover, its relation and how it is related to the IB Diploma Programme was also given emphasis. In addition, examinations and forms of assessment were also discussed.
To further motivate and inspire the audience, list of students who belong to the IGCSE Hall of Fame was presented. Selected Grades 11 and 12 students delivered short talks on the challenges they experienced when they were in the IGCSE, on how it helped to be the person they are now. Moreover, tips were also shared on how to be a successful IGCSE student.
As they say, success doesn’t come easily, hard work and determination are needed, failures may come together with struggles despite all of these, and parents’ support will be of great help.
In conclusion, with determination, parents’ support, and the APG School’s help, each students’ success can be assured.
