IGCSE Revolutionizes VOICES on its 4th Season : 
Vying for the Voice of Victory

 IGCSE Department held its annual speech competitions on its 4th season dubbed as VOICES for Grade 9 and 10 students.  The event was conducted on December 21, 2017 from 8:00 AM to 12:00NN at Aradous Hall with the theme “Vying for the Voice of Victory”. The event aimed of developing fully the speaking skills of APG students to become confident public speakers and critical thinkers

VOICES as an event has been evolving and becoming more challenging and exciting every year. Another milestone for the event was holding the first –ever Speech Choir competition among grade 10 students and Extemporaneous for the Grade 9.  Miss Lhiza Arnigo nerved as the trainer of the Speech Choir Contestants, Miss Audrie Ashiali took over the preparation of the Extemporaneous speaker while Mr. Jesus “Lloyd” Guerina prepared the selected grade 9 students for an experimental theater performance on the different facets of Peace. Ahmed Abdulrasool and Zahraa Sadiq served as its emcees. For the first time, Mr. Hussain Al Aali gave his welcome remarks while Ms. Ebtisam Al Zeera had her inspirational message for everyone.
In the extemporaneous speech contest, nine speakers from Grade 9 participated wherein Saleh Dhaif of 9D emerged as the champion while Abrar Yaser of 9A and Zahra Ali of 9B bagged the 2nd and 3rd place respectively.   For the Speech choir tilt, three competing groups composed of students from 10A, 10B and 10C vied for the Championship. All the competing groups were able to render excellent performance and interpretation of contest piece, “Mother Nature’s Revenge”, written by Patricia Lithuanian. In the end, 10A was proclaimed as the Champion. The winning team from 10A was composed of Jenan Jameel, Rawan Ali, Maryam Baqer, Safa Jaber, Shatha Hussain, Maryam Fouad, Aya Hameed, Fatima Ali Moh’d, Fatima Jaffer, Reem Hussain, Fatima Hani, Fatima Ali Omran, Jenan Sayed and Fatima Abdulla
Indeed, the said event was a huge success. It was made possible because of the humungous support of the IGCSE coordinator, Miss Yhen Caluyo, who did an amazing job as its over-all administrator of the event as she maximized the talents and skills of her teachers in putting up the speech tilts. It was also graced and supported by the administrators headed by the high school principal, Ms. Ebtisam Al-Zeera, Ms. Iqbal Nawaf, Ms. Azar, Mr. Hussain Al Aali with the supportive vice principal Ms. Shahla.
